OUR STORY

Climbing Instructor, Guide and Coach based in North Wales

Thanks for taking the time to have a look at my site. I’ve created it to give an overview of what I have to offer. As a small business I have the flexibility to meet your specific requirements, so if you can’t find what you’re after or can’t find dates that match, please get in touch!

I’m a mega keen rock climber and have been for years, I currently climb E4 on trad, 8a+ on sport, boulder font 7B and winter V.

In my mind any climbing instructor should be super psyched by climbing and getting out loads, check out my UKC logbook to see most of what I’ve been climbing lately. I made the choice to live in Snowdonia, North Wales years ago because for me it has the best concentration of varied climbing in the UK. It also has some of the nicest and most easily accessible mountains which makes it an ideal playground for anyone into the outdoors. I climb week in, week out around here but also across the rest of the UK, I also climb abroad, with regular trips to the Alps, Dolomites, Spain and may other amazing places…

Working in the outdoors was a natural choice for me and over the years I have worked hard to gain the Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor Award – the UK’s highest rock climbing qualification. This allows me to teach and guide all aspects of Rock Climbing, Scrambling and Mountain Walking.

My work is pretty varied and I enjoy teaching people to lead rock climb, guide people up classic multi pitch routes, coach people working towards specific goals, work on National Governing Body Awards such as the ML, RCI (SPA) & RCDI schemes and plenty of other stuff too. In the winter I head up to Scotland to run our winter courses in the snow, and get some winter climbing done too!

As well as instructing I have been involved in safety work with film crews and providing mountaineering safety cover for oil companies, most recently in Kurdistan on a seismic project.

I keep up to date with industry best practices and continue to learn skills by attending CPD courses through my membership of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors, of which I am a committee member. I hold comprehensive insurance cover for all the courses I deliver and keep up to date with First Aid Training.

Most courses are delivered by me, but I occasionally use other highly qualified and super psyched instructors that I know well.

If you are interested in my path to becoming a mountaineering instructor have a look at how I became a self employed climbing & mountaineering instructor (new link appearing here soon, thanks for your patience!)
