Intro to Outdoor Rock Climbing Course
Desperate to try outdoor rock climbing? Maybe you’ve climbed indoors on a taster session or just seen a friend climbing something on Facebook. This course will start with the fundamental skills of climbing and progress as far as your imagination allows you! We’ll get loads of climbing in, on a variety of amazing crags. Smiles are guaranteed!
No previous experience required, just plenty of enthusiasm!
A learn to lead trad climbing course will open up a lifetime's worth of adventures to you! If you have a bit of seconding or top roping experience and want to learn the art of lead rock climbing this is the course for you. We’ll look at placing gear, setting up belays, abseiling , learning what to do when things go wrong and much more whilst getting on some great climbs in North Wales and having loads of fun!
After attending this course you'll be armed with a lot of new skills ready to head out on your own.
Sport climbing is ace! The focus is on climbing with no faffing around placing trad kit, just clip the bolts and go!
It’s not quite that simple though, we need to know how to rethread anchors, retreat, lead belay etc. As well as the technical side of things we’ll also look at some movement coaching, on route tactics and pre climbing performance preparation.
Next thing you know you’ll be booking flights to Spain for a sport climbing holiday!

Extract from our 2017 moderation visit by Mountain Training:
“Jez is a keen climber and is regularly found cranking at the Beacon. His enthusiasm of climbing comes through as part of his course promotion and delivery, in which candidates feel in the company of a dedicated mountaineering instructor who keeps his skill set fresh along with a strong commitment to cpd.”
“Jez’s course was being run to a good standard and clearly the candidates were put at ease and enjoying the process, particularly the reviewing of each task with each other. The information flow was good and the syllabus was being covered in a logical way.”
If you have done your Single Pitch Award training and want to be thoroughly prepared for your assessment then this day will put you through your paces and fine tune your skills. As course providers we are up to date with Mountain Training guidelines and are experienced in delivering Single Pitch Award courses.
This course is great fun to run because we see people achieving their goals and having great fun on brilliant routes. Over the two days we’ll look at your strengths and weakness’s before tailoring the coaching appropriately. This will often involve a mix of indoor and outdoor climbing on crags that we know will work well for our aims.
The Rock Climbing Improver Course will suit people who are already competent lead climbers currently climbing around Sev or 4 and are looking to kick start their journey to climbing harder.
Areas looked at include: Movement, pre climb preparation, tactics, route reading, training, the head game, falling, plus much more, as well as plenty of climbing of course!
Really want to immerse yourself and improve your climbing, climb harder with more confidence? This two week (two blocks of five days) course will have you living and breathing climbing! Whether you’re fairly new to climbing or you’ve reached a bit of a plateau we’ll help you develop your climbing. We’ll look at all aspects of it from the technical side of placing bomber kit through to training plans, but most importantly we’ll be climbing absolutely loads on amazing crags such as Gogarth, Tremadog and the various Llanberis Pass ones!
This course is completely bespoke to meet your climbing aims and all climbing will be on a maximum ratio of two clients to one instructor.
Spanish Performance Sport Climbing Week in Chulilla
To say we’re psyched for this trip would be a massive understatement!
Chulilla, in Spain, is up there with the worlds best sport climbing venues with quality limestone pitches up to 40m all in a beautiful setting. We’ve spent two winters climbing here and are looking forward to a third! During this time we’ve climbed a lot of routes and know the area really well so we can really maximise your time on the rock.
This week is aimed at people climbing in the mid to high 6’s looking to break into the 7’s or those wanting to consolidate the low to mid 7’s – There is of course plenty of opportunity for climbing routes easier or harder than this!
The course itself is 5 days long, with coaching at a maximum of 1:4. We’ll work with you each day looking at all aspects of your climbing from movement to the head game. Years of experience of working with climbers, and climbing shed loads ourselves, will enable us to help you reach new levels in your climbing.
The price is for the coaching only, flights to Valencia are available at reasonable prices and there are loads of AirBnB options from less than £30 per night, we’ll put you in touch with other course members should you wish to arrange joint accommodation.
Steve McClure describes Chulilla “It lived up to my expectations and had everything I needed for a great trip. With time being so precious it’s important to ensure that all the ingredients are in there. I look for a beautiful location, great weather, a good team and a relaxing atmosphere as well as good climbing – so it’s not all about the climbing although I must say, the climbing at Chulilla is world-class.”
If the dates we have don’t suit, then please get in touch to see if we can sort something out!
An alpine prep course will get you a head start on your trip to the Alps, by learning some new skills or brushing up on some old ones you’ll already be one step ahead.
The Alps can be an intimidating and overwhelming place, it’s a tough place to learn so the more you know before you go, the more you’ll get out of your trip. Whether you’re aiming to do something like the Cosmiques Arete or just want to know how to move safely over glacial terrain this course will help get you on the right track.
On this Alpine Prep course, we will look at how to move quickly and efficiently with the rope, crevasse rescue, what kit to take, good first routes etc, and you’ll leave feeling slick and ready for your amazing adventures!
Normally the first day would be spent out in the mountains looking at various skills, before putting them all into practice on a long mountain day out on day two, perhaps linking scrambles and climbs in the Ogwen Valley.
This course is set up for people working towards getting onto the stunt register. Over the two weeks, we’ll get loads of climbing done and look at the skills needed to pass the Single Pitch Award, which we can also provide. We’ve had a number of people on courses like this and they’re always great fun!
As well as having set dates, we can organise bespoke courses and dates to suit you, just give us a shout to discuss your requirements.
No previous climbing experience needed, just plenty of enthusiasm!
If you’ve never climbed before and think it looks fun, then you’re right, it’s ace! Come and try a taster day of climbing, but be warned, you could leave hooked!
Gear is provided, you just need to bring your spirit of adventure and enthusiasm.
These days are arranged for you and your group, so please get in touch if you want to know more and to arrange a day out.
Max Ratio 1:4
£160 a day for a group of up to four people
Intro to Sea Cliff Climbing Course
Sea cliff climbing is something special, especially with Gogarth down the road! Abseiling into an unknown world full of adventure and wildlife requires some extra skills but it is extremely rewarding. If you want a taste of this and want the skills to start adventuring on them yourself this is the course for you.
No prior experience required, just a spirit of adventure and some sunscreen!
A day looking at how to get yourself out of trouble should things start to go wrong. From hoists to counter balance abseils, we’ll cover a lot in this day all of which any self sufficient climber should be well versed with.
This could be a life saver!
To make the most of this course you’ll need some leading experience, ideally multi pitch too and would also be suitable as an MIA refresher.
If you have a particular set of goals you want coaching towards, a route in mind, or just want guiding for a day or more we can help with that. We are always excited about being out climbing so you can rely on us to get the most from private guiding days.
These days are completely bespoke so just let us know what you’re after and we’ll sort out the perfect itinerary for you whether it’s long V Diffs on Tryfan or a classic E1 on the Cromlech or at Gogarth.
